Oranges everywhere

We are spending a couple days in Riverside where Paul will work and then we will head to Yuma, AZ. We stayed at Rancho Jurupa Park which is a county park and very nice. I think we stayed here once when we were living in the RV.

Sunday morning Paul found a cool spot for breakfast at a small airport. The food was great and Paul enjoyed seeing planes take off. Flabob Airport was in a tiny neighborhood but had lots of memorabilia about flight. I wandered the statues while Paul went and saw some of the planes.

After we got some groceries and then I found California Citrus State Historic Park. The park had lots of citrus groves, every kind of orange, lemons and grapefruit with a museum about the growing of citrus in the area. You could not pick the oranges as they have a company the picks them and then sells them at a roadside stand. Riverside had Orange groves everywhere. Not as many now but we saw many places where the trees were growing and producing oranges along the sides of the road. It looked like you could just pick them but we didn’t have shears so we found the stand and bought a bag. They were so juicy.

Monday was a work day but as Paul was waking up Teddy starts barking and Paul looked out the window and a skunk was wandering through our site! Geeze! we can’t escape them. The good news is the skunk was gone soon and we could go outside. I took Paul to his customer and went for Starbucks and then got my nails cleaned up!

Tuesday we were woken up about 4 am with wind that was howling thru. I never did get back to sleep. We were not supposed to leave until about 11 but at 8 I suggested we leave as I could see by the weather the wind was only going to get worse and it looked pretty good going east. So we left, Paul was fighting the RV for the first couple hours but then things settled down. We made it to Yuma about 3. The wind was normal as they always have wind in Yuma – why I don’t really like this part of the desert.

The wind picked up overnight and by Wednesday am it was crazy but not as crazy as the winds in LA. Whole areas are gone from fires that were sparked from the crazy winds. So many people lost their whole home and all of their belongings.

Tomorrow we head to Mesa where we will spend a week visiting friends and Paul will get some Tennis and Pickleball and of course visiting some dealers! I will spend the days enjoying the sunshine after I do some water exercising and a lot of walking I hope.
