BBQ, BBQ

SaltLick BBQ in Driftwood was recommended and we drove by on Saturday!  It's a huge place with a lot of patio dining.  You can bring your own ice chest full of beer to the dining room but not on the patio!  We don't need an ice chest full of beer to eat bbq.  This is usually the type of place we would pass as it looked like a tourist spot.  A guy where Paul worked on Monday said it was but we still went on Monday.  We arrived early and they have a wine tasting place.  No one was there, the wine was ok for Texas and Paul had a beer.  You can buy beer in the wine place, you can't buy any alcohol in the restaurant!  You can buy it there and take it with you to the restaurant.  Interesting alcohol rules in Texas.  I think Texas is where we have seen drive thru cocktails but you can't buy it in the restaurant, just at there wine garden!  It was all right there.

We got drinks and sat down on the lovely patio.  Then we see the other party coming out of the restaurant with their food!  Hmmm, we can order and pick it up to go and eat on this lovely patio!  Yeah.  So Paul gets a menu and orders what he thought was 2 beef rib dinner and some turkey and brisket.  The dinner comes with coleslaw, potato salad and beans.  That will be a lot of food.  We finally got our meal because Paul didn't see he had a text from them.  We open the bag and we have 2 , 2 rib dinners and a 1/4 lb of each Turkey and Brisket.  Dinner for 2 nights and lunch.  We thought it was expensive until we realized we had 3 meals for $59.  The wine was normal price of $15 per glass after tip.

This was some of the best bbq.  I don't usually like the ribs but these were excellent.  The bbq sauce was different and very good.  The beans were average until I put some of the jalapeno sauce in them.  Great.  The potato salad was more of a warm German potato salad, not my favorite but ok.  I never touched the coleslaw but Paul said it was average.

All in all I would definitely try this place again.  The patio was very nice except being right on the highway and I'll bet when they have a crowd and music on the weekends you probably would have a whole different experience.  I enjoyed the evening without the extra noise.

There were fans all over the patio, I'll bet it gets hot here!
